YOUR TOPIC IDEAS:

Here are a few topics and questions people have sent in so far and my brief responses. I will begin doing video blogs to offer more answers and information in response to the questions.

BABY BELLY

How do you fix a belly after a C-Section?

The same way anyone fixes belly fat, but the lose skin and scarring can be real problem. You're not alone and you don't have to have a C-Section to have the same issues. I'll share tips on how to wake those muscles back up and lose the fat. We'll also look at all the options available that help repair skin too.

SKINNY & FAT

How can you be skinny and still fat inside?

I have seen many skinny fat people in my life, and there are typically 2 types of issues. 1) You have someone who is truly skinny, but their lack of muscle mass results in a higher percentage of body fat. This person may appear skinny and still be 30% body fat. They are normally weak, lack energy, tired, insecure and unmotivated. Muscle gives people a feeling of strength, power and energy. The answer is normally in what they are eating and I definitely can dive into that more. 2) You also have people who are truly skinny but are mentally fat. This is a different ballgame altogether and there are several reasons for this disorder. Some people who have lost weight after being heavy all their life have a greater memory of being fat than they do of being skinny. Other times, people are so scared of becoming fat again that they become obsessed with any fat they have on their body. This is a great question and there is a lot more on this topic to be discussed.

ANXIETY

Can exercise help reduce anxiety?

Short answer: Absolutely. The "why", "how fast can you start feeling relief", "will it last", "what exercises are best for fighting anxiety", "does food have anything to do with it" and "are there acceptations" would be real questions - and there are a lot of good answers that can definitely help you!

FAT ON ORGANIC FOODS

I eat all organic foods and cook really healthy, but I still can't seem to lose weight. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, if you are writing me that means you aren't getting the results you want, so yes, you are doing something wrong. As far as eating healthy, you are likely pretty healthy, but you don't seemed troubled by your resting heart rate. The real question is do you know how to eat to lose weight - and that's a totally different subject. Great question! I hear this a lot and know I can definitely help!

CAN'T EXERCISE

How can someone lose weight when they have foot pain?

So you can't walk, you can't do aerobics, you can't use the elliptical and you feel completely discouraged. You shouldn't be! The truth is, diet is 80% of weight loss. Not only can gI ive you some exercises you CAN do but I definitely can help you get a better perspective of where your main focus should be on in order to get results you wnat. Hang on, 'cause I'm about to enlighten and encourage you - and you'll be unstoppable, feet or no feet.

GOING CRAZY

I recently started taking anti-depressants and I struggle with taking them. I want to be healthy. Am I really a mental case - or not?

This is when I call a specialist. I definitely can give you tips on how to change your lifestyle to be a healthier lifestyle that can help relieve stress, which can often be causing the need for prescription medications, but first we would need a doctor to help categorize different common mental health issues. Together we can help you get a more realistic, educated look at your mental health, why you are in the state you are in, what you may need to change to get healthy, and a simple game-plan to get moving in the right direction. Great question - I know a LOT of people who focus on that silly pill and let it make them even more mental than they were before they started taking them!

EXERCISE ADDICTION

How do you know if someone is addicted to working out? How do you turn the addiction to a healthy lifestyle?

This is more common than some may think. I see it all the time. People going in and doing 2 hours on the elliptical, followed by a spinning class and only to return later that day for another round. Often times there is nothing you can say or do to change their minds - they HAVE to workout just like a crack addict HAS to have crack. Some people don't want to give up the social time, others are bored and just have to be doing "something" and some people are not addicted to exercise as much as they are addicted to food, so they are constantly trying to erase their mistakes in the gym. There are a ton of reasons people can become, or appear to be, addicted. No matter the issue, or where it originates from, it's definitely an issue and there are definitely solutions. Another good one!!

INJURED & SCARED

I want to workout and lose weight but I have an old injury and my fear of getting hurt is preventing me to even try. Help!!

Wow, I SO can help you with this one. I see this in our senior population a lot. All it takes is one bad fall or one on-going pain to scare someone away from anything that appears to be exercise. My father went through this. He hurt his back and before you know it, his life got became more sedentary, because every time he tried to do an activity it set him back a few days. I finally convinced him that exercise was the ONLY solution. Any random activity would throw him for a loop, but I wasn't talking about playing a round of golf or helping someone move. I was talking about a regular exercise routine designed to strengthen muscles and help support his back so he could be more active without needing a bottle of Advil and an ice pack. After I finally got through to him, he reluctantly started a workout routine at 55 years old - and sure enough, he got stronger, healthier, more energetic...and the list goes on. Now, at 58, he has gained 22lbs of muscle and reduced his body fat. He has little to no back pain and plays softball with guys half his age. He wasn't lucky, he worked for this - and you can too. With just a few tips with the help of some testimonies from people who were once just like you, you'll be fit in no time!
